(6/6/11)– With the Missouri River flooding in central and eastern South Dakota making Page 1 news, Black Hills & Badlands tourist businesses have another headline announcement: There are no Missouri River flooding concerns in Western South Dakota. Located 200 miles west of the Missouri River, Black Hills & Badlands attractions, state and national parks, scenic byways and highways, and historic towns are open for business. Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson coming to Deadwood Mountain GrandDEADWOOD, S.D. (5/18/11) - It's official. Country stars Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson are combining forces for the first time in five years to bring their "Xtreme Music The Tour" to Deadwood Mountain Grand. And they're bringing with them special guests Cowboy Troy and Two-Foot Fred. The multi-platinum powerhouse will perform on Friday, July 8, in the 2,500-seat music and entertainment hall at Deadwood's newest gaming resort. The Deadwood Mountain Grand casino, restaurant and entertainment center are on schedule to open July 1. The luxury hotel will open in the fall. Authors! Authors!DEADWOOD, S.D. (11/22/10) -- The Adams Museum will host local published authors for a mammoth book signing on Saturday, Dec. 4, from noon to 2 p.m. Authors who will be signing their books are Mary Kopco, Tom Griffith, Michael Trump, Bobbi Sago and Dr. David Wolff. The event also includes area musicians Paul VandeVelde, Hank Harris and Paul Kopco, who will sign copies of their CDs. Businesses Recognized for Outstanding Customer ServicePIERRE, S.D. (11/23/10) – Several dozen South Dakota businesses are receiving kudos from state government for delivering outstanding customer service. The South Dakota Office of Tourism is awarding 138 South Dakota businesses and organizations in 41 communities with the Great Service Star. The Great Service Star program recognizes businesses that complete hospitality training, recognize employees for great service, and are very accommodating to customers. Kotti to Lead BHB&L AssociationRAPID CITY, S.D. (11/2/10) -- Hot Springs Chamber director George Kotti has been elected Chairman of the Board for Black Hills, Badlands & Lakes Association. Kotti will lead the board and staff of South Dakota's largest tourism trade association during 2010-2011. He was elected from 30 directors at the Association's annual meeting October 28. BHB&L Inducts New Tourism PioneerRAPID CITY, S.D (11/3/10) -- Black Hills, Badlands & Lakes Association has announced one inductee into its "Black Hills Tourism Pioneers" hall of fame. She is the late June Zeitner, a world-renowned expert on minerals and gems who resided in South Dakota most of her life. Zeitner was recognized during BHB&L's Annual Meeting & Banquet on Oct. 28. |
