Regional Independence Day Celebrations Planned
Celebrations and fireworks displays scheduled throughout Black Hills region
RAPID CITY, S.D.(623/10) -- Black Hills, Badlands & Lakes Association has compiled a roundup of holiday parades, festivities and fireworks celebrating Independence Day 2010 in western South Dakota.
June 30-July 4: Black Hills Round Up, Belle FourcheCarnival runs daily from June 30 through July 4.
June 30: Cattle drive in downtown Belle Fourche (2:30 p.m.).
July 1: Black Hills Ranch Rodeo (7 p.m.) & Barbecue (5 p.m.) at Roundup Grounds. Also PRCA slack, cowboy auction, steer roping.
July 2: First rodeo performance (7 p.m.) with Miss Rodeo SD coronation and rodeo dance (10 p.m.). Also, mutton busting, golf tournament, a military tribute & beer tent.
July 3: Second rodeo performance (7:30 p.m.) and evening fireworks at the rodeo grounds. Colgate Country Showdown Finals in Herrmann Park at 2 p.m. Also, wine tasting, military tribute, high school challenge of champions.
July 4: Roundup Parade at 10:30 a.m., free concert by Putnam, Boyd, Bristow
& Connor at noon at Herrmann Park Band Shell, and final rodeo performance (2 p.m.). Also, military tribute and B-1B flyover.

July 1-4: Gold Camp Jubilee, Parade & Fireworks, Lead
July 1: Terry Peak Chair Lift Rides from 1-4 p.m.; Beer Garden, vendors open at 4 p.m.; poker tournament at 6:30 p.m.; karaoke in the beer tent at 7 p.m.
July 2: Terry Peak Chair Lift Rides from 1-4 p.m.; Kim Reller Memorial 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament; Beer Garden & vendors at 4 p.m.; Startz-N-Ends performs from 7 p.m.-midnight.
July 3: Mile High Show N' Shine judging 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., awards at 4 p.m.; Les Roselles and the Straight Shooters perform from noon-4 p.m.; street dance 7 p.m.-midnight.
July 4: Rod & Gun Club breakfast from 7-10:30 a.m., Masonic Temple Horseshoe
Tournament at 9 a.m., sand volleyball tournament, 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; vendors open at
10 a.m.; LAR & the Lounge Lizards perform in beer tent, noon to 4 p.m.; parade in
Deadwood at 3 p.m.; parade in Lead at 4 p.m.; Brock Finn & Band perform in beer tent, 4
p.m. to 8 p.m.; Northern Hills Community Band performs in band shelter at 8 p.m.; fireworks over the Open Cut at dusk.

July 2-4: Old Time Country Fair & Fireworks, Custer
Three-day event with a craft fair, musical entertainment, ice cream/refreshments, chuckwagon cookout, kids activities and more at the 1881 Custer County Courthouse.
Fireworks take place at dusk on July 4 on Pageant Hill.

July 2-4: 11th annual Rosebud Casino pow wow, Rosebud

July 3: Fourth of July at the Elks Lodge, 3333 Jolley Lane, Rapid City
All-day event begins at noon, July 3. Egg toss, putting contests, fishing derby, hayrides, bouncy castle and much more. Fireworks at dusk.

July 3-4: Celebration in Hot Springs
July 3: Kidney Springs Craft & Art Fair, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Evening street dance at Centennial Park.
July 4: Firecracker 10K/5K and Main Street Mile. 10K/5K begins at 7 a.m., Main Street Mile begins at 8:15 a.m.; both start at Chautauqua Park. Registration is 6 a.m. Awards, T-shirts, refreshments, drawings for pies. Ecumenical church service at 9 a.m. in Centennial Park. Kidney Springs Craft & Art Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., parade at 10 a.m., community barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. (Mueller Center, $1). FireQuacker Duck Race at 1 p.m. on Fall River, downtown. Tickets available at chamber office and visitor centers. Demolition Derby at
2 p.m. at Hwy. 18 Bypass. Concert by community band & chorus at 8 p.m. in Pamida parking lot. Fireworks at dusk at Hwy. 18 Bypass.

July 3-4 Independence Day at Mount Rushmore
Saturday, July 3: Events begin at 9 a.m., included are folk dances, hoop dancer, Native American music, ranger studio talk, presidential re-enactors giving autographs. Amphitheater events begin at 4:30 p.m. with welcome from park superintendent, Junior Ranger swearing-in, B1-B Lancer Bomber fly-over at 5 p.m., Veterans' recognition at 7:25 p.m., 28th Bomb Wing Commander address at 7:55 p.m., bomber fly-over at 8 p.m., Black Hills Symphony concert at 8:15 p.m., sculpture lighting at 9:15 p.m.
(NO FIREWORKS DUE TO FOREST CONDITIONS.)
Sunday, July 4: Events begin at 10:15 a.m., included are children's entertainment,
native music, presidential re-enactors giving autographs, and lighting program at 9 p.m.

Starts at 4 p.m. with Family Roots Fun Run/Walk. Food and craft booths, large
fun area with inflatables, kids' activities, music by Phat City Funk and cultural
entertainment. Fireworks at 10 p.m.
